March Madness

“To be a spiritual warrior, one must have a broken heart; without a broken heart and the sense of tenderness and vulnerability, your warriorship is untrustworthy.”

“We are always in transition. If you can just relax with that, you'll have no problem.”

Chogyam Trungpa

March Madness - and I’m not talking about basketball, but as they say about NCAA Tournaments, to truly embrace the Madness, we must be willing to let go of all rationality and logic. Be ready for the unexpected, for the upsets and buzzers that will have us on the edge of our seats. We are witnessing history being made.

It is one thing to go back into the cycles of history in order to predict the course of events, but in these times of converging timelines that we haven’t experienced for thousands of years, none of us can truly be prepared. This month is Eclipse Season. But we also have Neptune beginning its journey into Aries after 11+ years in Pisces. We have both Venus and Mercury retrograde and traveling closely together, Mars in Cancer out of bounds all month, and a Saturn sextile Uranus transit.

Upcoming Highlights and important dates:
Mars in Cancer is Out of Bounds all month
1: Venus turned retrograde in Aries
3: Mercury moved into Aries
11 - 12: Mercury conjunct Venus retrograde at 8° Aries
13 - 14: 23:56 Virgo Full Moon / Total Solar Eclipse (Worm Moon) at 2:53 am EDT
16: Mercury goes retrograde at 9:31 Aries
21: Sun moves into Aries
27: Venus retrograde moves back into Pisces for two weeks
28: Saturn sextile Uranus at 24° Pisces / Taurus until April 4
29: 09:00 Aries New Moon / Partial Solar Eclipse / Supermoon (Pink Moon) at 6:57 am EDT
30: Mercury moves back into Pisces for two weeks
Neptune moves into Aries (retrogrades back into Pisces in October)

The powerful Aries energy this month does show us the signals of wars and earth changes that always come with transition times like we are in, where the old ways of life disappear and new waves of civilization begin.

My feeling about the Saturn / Uranus transit at the end of the month into early April is that it is primarily bringing a certain ease of flow to the huge changes in the financial system as we reinvent that as well. For example, crypto currencies could move completely out of their current downturn and precious metals set new highs. It does denote a certain ease of abundance and resources for which we can look to the future with. We’ll see.

Any eclipse has the quality of Uranian sudden and unexpected change, which is never easy. That said, these eclipses are powerful but not necessarily too difficult. The lunar Nodes now in Virgo and Pisces encourage us generally for the next year plus to know that this is a time of conscious surrender to what will and cannot be any longer, and the guidance to take life one step at a time, living fully in each present moment with a sense of discernment, peace and awe. How amazing that we are even experiencing this evolution of human consciousness.

This is especially true for our first eclipse, an emotional total lunar eclipse at 23:56 Virgo. This will be felt and experienced mostly by those of us who have planets or sensitive points in our natal charts in the last 10 degrees of the mutable signs Pisces, Virgo, Gemini and Sagittarius.

The Sabian Symbol for 24° Virgo is “Mary and her Little Lamb” with the keynote “The need to keep a vibrant and pure simplicity at the core of one’s being as one meets the many tests of existence.” While we meet our destinies with courage and strength, it helps to also stay “pure, spontaneous, fresh and nonviolent (as we) approach…all encounters.” It makes sense to me to hold this vibe of innocence as we are all pretty much still in the womb of our next phase of existence.

Of course, the supermoon / new moon partial solar eclipse at 9:00 Aries may feel a little more unsettling. Mercury is retrograde at the 0° Aries point. Mars, ruler of Aries and in detriment in the sign of Cancer, is squaring Chiron, sextile Uranus and trine to the Pisces stellium of Saturn, North Node, Venus retrograde and Neptune at the final degree of Pisces. This is more frustrating energy as the desires to move forward with new beginnings is so strong, but seemingly stalled with all of the retrograde and water energy. You’ll probably be feeling this if you have planets or sensitive points in the cardinal signs of Aries, Libra, Cancer and Capricorn between say 5 - 15 degrees.

The sabian symbol for this solar eclipse is a good reframe for this frustration: “A Teacher gives New Symbolic Forms to Traditional Images.” As we begin a new cycle of experience, we can revise our attitudes and visions using the deep and unlimited Piscean energy of imagination. And nothing moves things forward like the emotional power of Mars in Cancer when inspired and impassioned.
